Mayor's statement on news of Cedar LNG's environmental certificate

Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth offers this statement on news that the Cedar LNG Project has received its B.C. environmental assessment certificate.

“On behalf of the District of Kitimat I congratulate the Haisla Nation and its partner Pembina Pipeline on reaching this milestone moment with the Cedar LNG Project. The Nation and Pembina’s passion and engagement has proven the case for a floating liquefied natural gas facility that fits into the picture of responsible development for the environment.

“We know this is just one step on the journey towards a final decision on this project, but nonetheless we are happy to acknowledge this significant moment.

“Once again, congratulations on reaching this moment and we look forward to hearing of more success in the year to come.”
