More details about March 17 fire at KIR

The Kitimat Fire and Ambulance Service has reached preliminary findings into the investigation of the March 17 fire at Kitimat Ice Rink.

The investigation continues and no firm conclusions have been reached but initial findings suggest the fire may have originated from a faulty or malfunctioning wall-mounted heater within the Referee’s Room.

This information is preliminary and is subject to additional investigation and analysis. The Kitimat Fire and Ambulance Service is working closing with insurance investigators to examine the heater and conduct comprehensive testing.
