On Friday, August 11 at noon the District of Kitimat is lifting the campfire and backyard fire ban within the municipal boundaries.

This applies only within the District of Kitimat. Please be aware of continuing fire bans in other regions and jurisdictions in B.C.

A campfire in Kitimat is a fire no larger than one metre in diameter, or 1.5 metres if on a Cablecar, Strawberry Meadows or Kitamaat Village Road property.

Here are the remaining fire prohibitions within Kitimat:
  • Open Fires, Categories 2 and 3
  • Fireworks
  • Sky lanterns
  • Burns barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Tiki and similar kinds of torches
