Notes from Council, May 26, 2025

  • Representatives from Pacific Northern Gas attended to answer questions and present information relating to their PNG-West revenue requirements application to the BC Utilities Commission.
  • Council adopted the Mulberry Street zoning amendment bylaw. The adoption of the bylaw allows secondary dwellings at these properties.
  • The draft 2024 Annual Report for Kitimat was approved for public inspection. The public can now view the draft 2024 annual report from now until its presentation for adoption by Council at the June 16, 2025 meeting.
  • A temporary use permit for Cedar LNG was approved which allows the use of a site in the Service Centre area for the company to do lay-down activities related to their project.
  • Council approved a development variance permit for 1425 Nalabila Boulevard. This variance changes certain zoning conditions for this property, including reducing the minimum frontage, reducing the minimum parking requirements, and the distance between dwellings.
  • Council has directed that staff process a development variance permit for 11 Smith Street. The proposed variances would change the property's lot coverage maximum and accessory building setbacks to allow for the construction of a shop at the rear of the property.
