June 4, 2020 – The District of Kitimat is pleased to announce the opening of Riverlodge Recreation Centre at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8th.

Upon entering the facility you will be greeted by a staff member who will provide you information about the facility and reminders of our new COVID-19 signage and procedures.

  • If you have flu like symptoms or may have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 in the last 14 days, do not use the facility.
  • If you have travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days, you are not permitted to use the facilities.
  • Limited services will be offered - weight room, cardio equipment and change rooms (showers and sauna will remain closed).
  • Lobby washrooms will be open for use.
  • Occupancy for our facility is limited in each room – patrons must adhere to the posted numbers of persons allowed.
  • In an attempt to prevent line ups, patrons are encouraged to call for inquiries and pay for memberships and drop in fees over the phone, however we will still take payment in person.
  • Patrons are required to follow the direction of staff and posted signage around the facility (i.e. physical distancing of at least 6 ft. (2m), flow of foot traffic, hand sanitizing and cleaning of equipment before and after use).
  • At this time the pottery room (Arts Wing) will be closed and room bookings will not be accepted.  Additional information will be provided to facility users in the next two weeks.

The District of Kitimat continues to assess strategies for safely re-opening the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre to the public. The District will provide an update on the status of this facility as soon as it is available.

For more information call 250-632-8970.

We look forward to seeing you at the facility again.
