Thanks to feedback from community organizations and members we're happy to offer a sensory swim on Family Day, February 20 as part of our free Family Day activities at Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex.
The sensory swim, running from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., is designed to accommodate families and children with challenges participating in our pool’s usual loud environment, for example for those on the Autism spectrum.
To make a more comfortable environment, we will adapt the pool during this time by:
- Having less noise by not running our water park features and not playing music
- Requesting that this swim time only be used by families who will benefit from it the most
There is no pre-registration required for our sensory swim time.
The general public is welcome to join at 2:00 p.m. that day for our free waterpark swim and for all of the other events planned to celebrate Family Day in Kitimat.
