Temporary closure of Dike Road, February 4, 2026

Due to the risks associated with rising water and bank erosion along the Kitimat River, the Dike Road by Riverlodge is temporarily closed for safety.

The public is encouraged to avoid riverbanks as environmental conditions can change rapidly and river water moves swiftly and strongly.

Kitimat continues to be under a yellow rainfall warning likely through to this evening (February 4). The Yellow rating is for weather where impacts can be moderate, localized or short-term. Yellow is the most common type of alert level from Environment Canada.
