On July 31 we welcomed traffic on to the new Haisla Bridge.
Just before we opened it for all, we were happy to offer a ceremonial first trip for Haisla Nation Council Chief Councillor Crystal Smith with Haisla Elder Marilyn Furlan, along with Mayor Phil Germuth who invited his mother along for the ride as well. They also offered a goodbye to the old structure too.
At 9:00 a.m. this morning, all traffic opened for the new Haisla Bridge. It’s still a construction zone so continue to be mindful of traffic controls, watch your speed, and follow all directions.
Here’s some other info about the bridge:
- From now until August 7, no loads more than 63,000 kgs may cross the new bridge
- From August 8, the above restriction ends and there will be new traffic permit requirements for oversize loads
