May 31, 2020 – Starting June 1, the reception desk at the District of Kitimat office in City Centre Mall will re-open with regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays). Until further notice, our reception desk services will be limited to the sale of bus passes and accepting property tax payments and home owner grants.

PROPERTY TAXES

Property tax notices were mailed out on May 29, 2020. The due date for property taxes is July 2, 2020, however payment can still be made until September 30, 2020 without penalty. On October 1, 2020 a penalty will be added to unpaid property taxes.

Paying Your Property Taxes

You can pay your property taxes through:

  • Online banking
  • Paytm Canada app (Paytm will add a fee to your transaction)
  • Debit card
  • Cash (Other methods are preferred)
  • Cheque

Claiming Your Home Owner Grant

You can apply for your Home Owner Grant:

  • In person at our reception desk
  • Through the mail
  • Online at www.kitimat.ca

To ensure a safe, efficient and effective service please adhere to the following steps;

  1. Do not come to the front desk if you have been experiencing flu-like symptoms, or have been in contact with someone experiencing flu-like symptoms, or have been out of the country in the past 14 days.
  2. Arrive with washed hands, or use the hand-sanitizer provided.
  3. Only one person (or members from the same household) will be allowed in the office lobby at one time – please do not enter the office lobby until instructed to do so.
  4. Queue in an orderly fashion, respecting the pre-taped markings on the floor to remain 6 feet (2 metres) apart.
  5. Be quick and orderly with your transaction.

Please be patient if you experience delays. We have implemented these protocols for your safety and the safety of our employees.

For building, bylaw, planning and other matters, please continue to call the reception desk at 250-632-8900 and book an appointment with the appropriate person. Walk-in service for these matters will not be available.
