The Kitimat cemetery is located at the north end of town off Highway 37.

Interment options include traditional burials for both full-casket and cremated remains, as well as mausoleum interment.

To reserve a plot or mausoleum space, contact the Engineering Department by email or phone 250-632-8906.

Cemetery Hours and Maintenance

  • The cemetery hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
  • Cemetery grounds are maintained by the municipality, however staff are not stationed on site.

Burials

For each interment, provide us with a completed Cemetery and Mausoleum Interment Right Contract ("Cemetery Form"). This form can be found under Engineering Forms on this page.

  • Funeral homes generally make burial arrangements. Burials can also be arranged by contacting the District of Kitimat.
  • At least 48 hours is needed to schedule a burial.
  • Burials occur on week days between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (except statutory holidays).
  • Burial graves are single depth.
  • Two sets of cremated remains are permitted with a full burial site.

Memorial Markers

  • Markers are the family's responsibility.
  • Families must arrange for repairs, and addition of names. This work must be completed by an approved monument company.
  • Regulations for memorial markers are under Part 7 Div 4 of the Kitimat Municipal Code.
