Recycling

Kitimat has two recycling centres – Kitimat Understanding the Environment (KUTE) and the Encorp Return-It bottle depot.

Kitimat also has a private curbside recycling company called UR Stewards.

Annual Clean-up Campaign

Each spring season a Kitamaat/Kitimat clean-up campaign is launched to encourage everyone to clean up their home, yard and place of business. This year's campaign ran from May 18 to June 1, 2018; see the flyer for information.

During one week of the campaign the limit on the number of residential garbage cans/bags allowed on garbage collection day is waived. See Curbside Collection above for garbage preparation information to make sure your refuse is bundled correctly.
